Kennedy Associates provide the full range of architectural and urban design services including complete management of a project from feasibility to completion.

Fundamental to our practice is the emphasis we place on the rigorous examination of the specific programmatic issues underlying each project, and the consequent preparation and critiquing of a range of design options for each project.

Our core expertise includes:


  • 30 + years experience designing residential projects, from small award-winning alterations and additions to more recently, large multi-unit developments
  • currently working on 21 apartment developments ranging from 25 – 250 units up to 20 stories high
  • specific expertise in affordable, group and social housing

public & community

  • projects include educational, community, sports, health, child care and aged care and religious buildings
  • significant awards include the Sulman Award 2008 for the Bowden Centre, World Architecture Festival shortlist 2014 and National Steel Excellence Award 2014 for the AGL Pavilion

design for disability

  • particular expertise in the design of specialist accommodation for people with disabilities (SDA)
  • projects include development of the NSW guidelines for Design for Disabilities and consultancy work to state government authorities
  • design of over 100 specific residential and health buildings

urban design & planning

  • urban design consultancy services to both the public and private sectors
  • includes master planning, zoning proposals, town centre studies and urban renewal projects
  • Steve Kennedy recently reappointed as urban design expert on Warringah Council Development Assessment Panel and Fairfield Council Independent Assessment Committee.
  • Steve is the representative of Warringah Council on the Sydney East Joint Regional Planning Panel.
