Hurstville DA approved

Kennedy Associates project at Carrington Avenue, Hurstville, has been unanimously approved by Georges River Independent Assessment Panel.

The project, a 7 storey mixed use development with an overall FSR of 4.3:1, located on a prominent corner of Hurstville Town Centre, will provide a new home for the International Community Fellowship (ICF) as well as 17 two bedroom units.

The building combines brickwork, terracotta, off form concrete and timber panelling to deliver a vibrant and dynamic new element to this highly visible entrance to Hurstville. The development includes a roof top terrace and a 3 level automated car stacker providing 22 carapaces.

The community facilities for ICF include a multi function hall, shop and seminar rooms.

The project faced significant issues given the size of the site (407m2), the proximity of adjoining properties and the southerly orientation; restrictions that meant the development was unable to fully comply with council requirements for car parking or meet the ADG performance requirements for solar access and building separation.

Notwithstanding this, both council staff and the IAP recognised the urban planning and architectural merits of the project and were unanimous in their support for it.

Construction will commence in late 2016.
