DA lodged for house addition in the Inner West

A Development Application has been lodged in Inner West Council, for alterations to an existing dwelling in Dulwich Hill. The existing federation era home in has been retained, with a new addition at the rear designed to improve the quality of living spaces and additional bedroom. Taking advantage of the sloping site, a staircase forms the junction of old and new buildings, descending into the new double height living spaces with windows that maximise the leafy outlook.

The new proposal forms two spaces, one under a pitched roof, the other under a flat, corrugated metal pavilion, with plywood cladding inside for a warm interior finish.

Whilst not in a heritage conservation area, the charm and character of this original dwelling is maintained, with the new addition set behind the existing, clearly demarcated in style. The new addition is still bold, however, and offers the site a contrast of old and new.
